ABOUT US
Who we are:
We are Novii, the organization started and run by kids, which strives to empower global youth through education in language and the arts. Our name comes from the Latin word 'novi', which means 'the new', 'to know of', or 'to accept', three values which are central to our work.

What we do:
We teach English and analytical skills to elementary and middle school students abroad (primarily in China). In our online tutoring, we work with students to develop critical thinking, research, and public speaking skills. With the profits, we create music and arts programs for other youth locally and internationally (see below for past projects).

In May 2019, I visited a local school on a class trip to Costa Rica. We heard that the school was working to start a music program, so we held a drive and used Novii funds to donate 11 ukuleles. When we arrived at the school, we presented the ukuleles to them, and we performed a song as well. After, we taught some basic chords, strumming, and spent time socializing with the kids. Seeing the kids' faces light up when we unboxed the ukuleles made us realize how much of an impact even a little work can create.

The following year, we also donated 13 ukuleles to Corner of Love's medical mission for refugees from Nicaragua. Although we were not able to visit them in person due to COVID-19, I'm glad that the ukuleles provided a source of joy for the families.

Now, we are using our earnings to develop the Novii Art Exhibition, where Tacoma teens are given the platform to create a multimedia art exhibition on the concept of identity.
